Prizes
and Awards
All prizes must be accepted
as awarded; Restrictions apply; There is no cash value associated
with any prizes. The organizers of The Wall And The Falls
International Print Competition 2004 (referred to hereafter
as "The Competition") reserve the right to interpret the rules
and restrictions associated with all prizes and awards.
Grand Prize:
ONE (1) Grand Prize will be awarded in the North American
component of The Competition. The winner of the Grand Prize
will be decided solely by the judging panel. The Grand Prize
includes ONE (1) round-trip air ticket to China from a major
North American city and four (4) nights' hotel accommodations
in Beijing, for the Grand Prize winner to be honoured with
a special presentation at the Awards Ceremony in Beijing on
April 25, 2004.
If the Grand Prize winner is unable to attend the Awards Ceremony
in Beijing on April 25, 2004, the Grand Prize is transferable
to a representative chosen by the Grand Prize winner.
If the Grand Prize winner is unable to attend the Awards Ceremony
on April 25, 2004 and is unable or unwilling to appoint a
representative to attend the Awards Ceremony, travel and accommodation
arrangements for the Grand Prize winner to travel to China
may be made for a later date within the year 2004 by mutual
agreement between the Grand Prize winner and The Competition's
organizers, subject to blackout dates and other restrictions.
Five awards/prizes
in each category: There will be five prizes awarded
in each of the six categories available for submissions.

The 1st prize in each of the six categories will
be a numbered brick and an embossed plaque from the Great
Wall Administration in Beijing, China. The plaque shows
the Great Wall with the designation in Chinese and English
and the serial number of the souvenir brick, one of a limited
edition for special occasions.

The
2nd prize in each of the six categories will be
a three (3) day – two (2) night mini-vacation for
2 people, in the heart of one of the most famous addresses
in the world --Niagara Falls. The prize includes hotel accommodations
and complementary tickets to many of the attractions in
the Falls area. Prizes in this category are transferable.

The 3rd prize in each of the six categories has
been donated by a local jeweler, the owner of The Unicorn,
who specializes in providing unique pieces to customers
from all over the world. The 3rd prize is a diamond cut
Gold pendant created to resemble a 35 mm camera.

The
4th prize in each of the six categories will be
two bottles of premium wine from one of the Niagara Regions
award winning wineries, Strewn Winery. This prize consists
of a bottle of Strewn Three and a bottle of Strewn Chardonnay
plus a gift certificate for a private tour and tasting for
up to 10 people.

The
5th prize in each of the six categories will be
one of the most famous products of the Niagara Region, ice
wine. Each 5th place winner will receive a bottle of premium
ice wine from the world famous cellars of Pellar Estates
in Niagara-on-the-lake. The year of the ice wine selected
by Peller for this prize, represents the quality of wine
achieved by this winery.
Five Honorable Mentions in each category: There will be five
(5) awards given as honourable mentions in each of the six categories.
Each winner of an “Honorable Mention” award will
receive a certificate of achievement from The Competition and
a hand-carved jade seal embossed with a portion of the competition
logo. The winners of an “Honorable Mention” award,
along with the five (5) awards winners in each of the categories,
will have their winning prints included a) in the joint-judging
by both PPOC and CAPS accredited judges for outstanding work
in each category among all winning prints in Beijing on April
25, 2004 and b) in the International Traveling Exhibition for
the winning prints.
Awards for Artistic Merit: There will be ONE (1) award for
artistic merit with the winner chosen from winners of all the
categories from the North American Component.
Honorary awards and prizes: Additional awards for overall outstanding
work in each category among all winning prints (North American
and Chinese) will be decided in Beijing on April 25, 2004 by
the joint-judging of both PPOC and CAPS accredited judges. China
Artistic Photography Society (CAPS) and other Chinese sponsors
will provide additional prizes for these awards.
Prizes and awards will be available for pickup at the awards
night on April 3, 2004 to be held in the Niagara Region, Ontario,
Canada.
If any winners cannot attend the Awards Evening on April 3,
2004, arrangements can be made to have the prizes and/or awards
shipped to the designated winners in each category.
